Staying safe when meeting

Simple steps for a safe collection.

Most collections are quick and friendly. A few simple habits keep them that way.

Where to meet

  • Choose a busy public place in daylight, such as a supermarket car park, café or the school gates at pick-up.
  • If someone collects from your home, hand items over at the door. You don't have to invite anyone in.
  • Bring someone with you if you'd feel more comfortable.

Keep it on Sharewear

  • Arrange everything in Sharewear messages. There's no need to swap phone numbers, and it means we can help if something goes wrong.
  • Never pay or accept money outside Sharewear. Here's why

At the handover

  • Buyers: check the item, then show your handover code.
  • Sellers: don't hand over the item until you've entered the buyer's code and it's accepted.

If something feels wrong

Trust your instincts. You can always leave. If anyone makes you feel unsafe, use Report from the chat or their listing. In an emergency, call 999.
